Members and adult leadership of Explorer Post 2868 participated in the Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (C.O.P.E.) at the Anthony Wayne Area Council Scout reservation over the weekend of October 19-21, 2001.
C.O.P.E. is a program that allows participants to build teamwork, organization, trust and self-esteem by presenting them with obstacles that must be overcome.

On Sunday, October 28th the 7th and 8th grade girls from St. Therese Crusaders Volleyball Team captured the Blue League Championship. They were a #3 seed in the tournament with a 4-2 regular season record. They beat Benoit 15-2; 15-2 in the first game and then beat Queen of Angels 15-7; 15-7 to earn their berth in the championship game against Precious Blood. On October 11, 2001 President Bush asked students across the United States to help the children in Afganistan. When the students from the Waynedale Elementary heard the President say, "One in three children in Afghan are orphans and suffering from malnutrition," they responded.

Mrs. Diane Hall, Kindergarten teacher at Maplewood Elementary School, decided that a good way to give her kids a visual reminder of the American flag was to have them create one of their own. At 11am on Thursday, November 1, 2001 Mr. Jim Megles' class at Indian Village Elementary School, 3835 Wenonah Lane, Waynedale donated a check for $162 to SCAN (Stop Child Abuse & Neglect). This money was raised during a bake sale held by the 4th graders. In fact, they also baked the majority of the goodies sold to hungry buyers. Mr. Megles said, "My class not only learned to bake; they also learned about money, marketing, and teamwork".

He got in for only a few minutes at Sectional, Luers vs. Harding, and had a miraculous interception. The remarkable hands that made it possible belonged to the varsity football starting safety Jason Harless.
