I have a friend who has a store in North Webster called Native Images. Her name is Kellie. She is a good Native American woman, even though she's not a Mohawk. :-) I love talking with her, and you will also, so when you visit her store, tell her a Mohawk by the name of Dancing Feather sent you.
I was in her store not long ago and met a Blackfoot Indian man. I sensed he needed and wanted to talk to me. We talked for a while. He did not smile. I asked him to visit me at Peace Tree Ridge, and we c ...

Steve slowly saddled his horse, Old Snort, and climbed stiffly aboard in the cold snap of morning. He pulled his hat down a little lower and pulled the wild rag up to cover his nose and mouth from the morning chill.
How many mornings had he done this?
As Snort trotted out into the meadows of the hills surrounding our valley, he looked with perked ears for cattle. That's what Snort does for a living. Those ears worked back and forth like radar, searching through trees and behind logs for the te ...

Jini, Aura and Enzo climbed into Jini's dinghy. Aura started the motor and Enzo cast off the painter-they were headed for the fish boil. Soon the trio was hiking up the hill to the boat shack where a flurry of preparation was in progress. Into the large copper pot of steaming vegetables, Chef Pierre added two pounds of secret seasonings and four gallons of heavy cream, whi ...

The first thing I think of is your forgiveness. Mercy and forgiveness are joined hand in hand, and how merciful you were when you looked down and saw me struggling under a load of sin. I had gone my own rebellious way, and messed up my life.
Thank you so much, Lord, that you didn' ...

FABRIC AND FRIENDS FIRST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
I heard about it for months.
"Have you seen the new quilt shop in Roanoke?"
"It has a man-cave."
"The fabric selection is huge."
Even my non-quilting friends were raving about the place.
It's not that Roanoke is so far from where I live, but with juggling several restoration projects and my other work I just hadn't gotten around to making the trip.
A couple of weeks ago I called the Fabric and Friends Quilt Shop to inquire of their hours and l ...

A man went to his rabbi and complained, "There are ten of us living in one room. Life is unbearable! What can I do?" The rabbi answered, "Go home and take your goat into the room with you." The man was incredulous; but the rabbi was insistent. "Do as I say. Come back in a week."
A week later the man returned looking even more distraught than before. "Rabbi, please, we cannot stand it. The goat is so filthy!" The rabbi then told him, "Very well, go home and let the goat out. Come back ...
