THE ADVENTURES OF NOSEE

Part II of II

Then NoSee asked, "What's your name?"

I'm called Ami, which is friend in French.

Well, they talked and talked and soon they had a friendship going. Ami decided he liked NoSee and invited him to stay in his cave with his brothers and sisters. He had ten garter snakes in his family and they would welcome him.

When NoSee arrived at Ami's cave, all ten of his siblings slithered out to greet him. They were shocked to see an albino snake and surprised to know he was blind. They had compassion on NoSee. NoSee was quickly spoiled.

Day by day the two friends went out together. Ami took NoSee to the good spots for finding earthworms, slugs and rodents. With two of them hunting, they had plenty to eat. Sometimes they would stretch out on a large flat rock to sun themselves since they are cold-blooded. If they got separated, one or the other would check the scent and find each other. When they really got separated; one or the other would check the scent and find each other. They were really friends. Ami always took care of NoSee.

Once they were slithering through tall grass and NoSee wandered away from Ami. NoSee didn't see a hunter looking for a quail in the deep grass. He didn't sense his presence. The hunter stepped on his tail! NoSee recoiled immediately and prepared to strike but he didn't know where to strike.

Ami finally caught up with his friend and asked him, "Where have you been?"
NoSee nervously replied, "Something stepped on my tail! I didn't know what to do so I coiled and struck out in a direction of the sound. No luck! I just struck out into the dark."
When it was mealtime, we wolfed down our catch by swallowing it whole. A good rodent was always tasty. Ami also liked fish and he was good at catching them.

Another time I lost Ami. I panicked. I hoped he'd pick up my scent. After what seemed like an eternity, he found my scent and joined me, I was so happy to sense him near me.

"I will never leave you," was Ami's reply.

And he never did. The two of them lived happily ever after.
