Old age isn't for wimps. Just ask me!
Mother's FaultSince Mother Nature made everything taste so good and since we have to eat to live, I hate to say it, "But it's her fault I have a fat head!"
Series-usThere is an old Texan saying, which goes, "Don't mess with Texas." Ha! They're not that tough. It only took some Cardinals and a couple of Louisville Sluggers, to whip their butts and I'm series-us.
No More JunkAccording to the Washington Post, the U.S. Postal Service has lost over 8 billion d ...

One of the great joys of getting older, and there is at least one joy involved in this grueling process, is discovering that you were right all the time. I try not to boast here because, well, that's just the kind of person I am. And, I'm not going to make a list of all of the things I was "right" about. No sense in boasting, but I just can't resist one.
Some of these things centered on my relationship with my mother. One advantage a mother has over her children is that sense of authority and b ...

That said, the basic premise of The Avengers struck me as a bit ridiculous, even for a comic book movie.
In the film, S.H.I.E.L.D., an international peace keeping agency is in the process of using a blue c ...

Irony is not lost on me. My husband Gene and I flew to Ethiopia to be part of a ministry team that delivered badly needed clothing and supplies to refugees, outcasts, and the infirmed. We arrived on a modern jet that had carried us across the ocean from America. When we disembarked the ultra-modern high-speed airplane and entered the towns, it was as though we had stepped back in time. We were surrounded by pushcarts, beggars, donkeys, women walking bent over with huge loads on their backs, dirt ...

Any good student of American literature could probably tell you that Edgar Allan Poe died under mysterious circumstances. He was found on a park bench in Baltimore, Maryland, delirious, some say raving, even. A cause of death was never established and the paperwork has since been lost. Because Poe had problems with alcoholism and drugs, and probably because he already had a reputation as a troubled artist, people chalked his death up to hard living. The new film The Raven, offers a fictional acc ...
