I will be leaving The Waynedale News right after this issue. I'm taking a sabbatical from newspaper writing to finish my second book of humor. Of course I won't be moving; I'll still be in the Waynedale area, attending meetings and outings with Boy Scout Troop 344 and helping with other scouting units in Waynedale but instead of writing newspaper outdoor articles, columns, and recipes I'll be arranging thirty of my latest humor columns that were published in MidWest Outdoors magazine, into chapt ...

With the recent lack of rain and extreme drought conditions, it might be necessary to take a look at what you can do to make gardening an easier chore for next year. Many plants are drought resistant (but not drought proof) which simply means that during a drought you may only need to water once every or every other week to keep your plants alive. This extra dry weather has most people's grass turning brown, almost to the point of dead.

Since January 1996, Janice Heniser has worked tirelessly in our Scout Shop, helping Scouts find uniforms, unit leaders find the patches and pins they need, and parents and grandparents find Christmas gifts for Scouts and recognition items for their Eagle Scouts.

In the Boy Scout Handbook they show several kinds or types of fires you can build.
