Betty, Rita, and Maxine—three ladies who have come together and become friends. They enjoy having coffee hour mid-morning, lunch in the small, quiet dining room or eating out at one of the restaurants close by. Afternoon Bingo, movie and popcorn, or musical entertainment. All of this happens at their home that they now call Riverbend Health Care Center. Rita commented, “It took me a little while to think of this as home, but now I do and I love it! I enjoy it here!”
Riverbend, located at 7519 Winchester Road just east of Waynedale, provides many different services to the community. It can serve as a home to someone who no longer is able to live independently or be a place of transition for someone who requires short-term rehabilitation before they return to home and/or work. Skilled nursing and specialty medical services are provided 24 hours a day with the emphasis to improve the comfort, strength, mobility, and independence of the residents and provide a cost effective alternative for continued medical care.
The outpatient therapy area can also offer to the community a fully equipped place to have rehabilitation close to home. The rehabilitation services are coordinated by a rehab program manager and staffed by licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Therapy is designed to return each individual to the highest level of function and independence according to a physician’s instruction.
All of these people had very different reasons to be at Riverbend Health Care Center and all received different treatments according to their needs. They each needed Riverbend to be able to provide them a quality of life whether it would be long or short term. Each have benefited from the services that Riverbend can offer to the community. Those services include 24 hour skilled nursing care, social and psychological services, speech, physical, and occupational therapy clinic. At Riverbend the residents can enjoy a variety of activities and community outings, religious services, beauty/barber services, and special musical entertainment and parties.
