Food of Love
The parades are great and the ball games are indispensable but Thanksgiving is all about the food. For Thanksgiving most of us want what our forefathers ate and we want it prepared the way our Grandmothers cooked it. Preparing such a meal is a labor of love. If you have someone willing to turn mere groceries into a feast for you this year, or if you have someone for whom you are willing to prepare a feast, than you most definitely have reason to give thanks. Even if you have no one for whom to cook and no expectation of being fed turkey and dressing, you can still have the food of love. Jesus Christ says of Himself in John 6:51, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” What a God, who not only makes a feast for us Himself, but even more importantly makes Himself a feast for us.
