LOCAL STUDENT PARTICIPATES IN COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM
Kendra Bodine of Fort Wayne is participating in a cooperative education program for the Fall 2002 semester through VU. Cooperative education is an academic program that combines professional work experience with academic course work. Paid employment occurs in business, industry, government, and other professional settings. The co-op experience through VU is available in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, and Nursing. Kendra Bodine, a senior at VU, is majoring in international service and German in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a 1999 graduate of Northrop High School and is the daughter of Terry and Joy Bodine of Fort Wayne.

CAMPUS VISITATION DAY AT TUFWC
TUFWC will conduct its third autumn Campus Visitation Day on Friday, December 6, 2002. Each semester three Campus Visitation days, hosted by the TUFWC admissions staff, are offered for prospective students and their parents to experience the Taylor Tradition first-hand. TUFWC PROVIDES ONLINE SKILLS TRAINING
TUFWC announces the availability of 800 courses for high quality, self-paced interactive Internet training. The online skills-based courses are grouped into seven libraries of related topics. Each library is priced at $199 per year per person for unlimited access, and contains as many as 200 courses covering topics such as: desktop computing skills, small business management skills, web development, technical Microsoft certifications training, home office skills, and many other topics. All are self-paced and offer increased knowledge and proficiency for professional advancement and personal enrichment. TUFWC PROFESSOR SIGNS MULTI-BOOK CONTRACT
Stephen T. Barclift, managing editor of Kregel Publishing Company, has announced the signing of Dennis E. Hensley to a long-term multi-book contract. Hensley’s first Kregel title will be ‘MAN TO MAN’: Becoming The Believer God Called You to Be, a collection of 31 devotional writings with study questions and Scripture guides. It will be released in July 2003.

Open house is just around the corner. Plan to attend on Sunday, January 19, 2003 (No football game that day). Times are 2pm to 4pm. You will enjoy the afternoon and learn more about Bishop Luers from our dedicatedfaculty and staff. You will also meet our students, who will be helping out in many different capacities. This is a perfect time for you, and your family, to tour the school, ask questions, and enjoy refreshments. Also, our newly renovated locker rooms will be open to tour. ‘KNIGHTS AROUND THE TABLE’ COOKBOOK ON SALE
BLHS families, students, friends teachers, and alumni have compiled a hard cover cookbook of 500 truly exceptional and unique recipes. Many recipes are from Luers Knight preview parties, specialties from local restaurants and four elegant menus for those special events for every season. “KNIGHTS AROUND THE TABLE” is a must for all cooks – it makes a wonderful gift for any occasion. The cost is only $12 with proceeds supporting the Bishop Luers Minstrels. You can place your orders through the main office at 456-1261. FRESHMAN REGISTRATION AT BLHS
Tuesday, January 28th and Wednesday, January 29th, all eighth grade students; (class of 2007) and their parents are asked to register for the upcoming school year. Faculty and staff will be available to help with decision making. Also, representatives from our business office will be on hand to discuss tuition and tuition forms will be given out. Registration will take place in the cafeteria. A registration fee will be required at the time of registration. That amount is determined in January and we will notify our feeder schools. Call the Development Office, with any questions or concerns.
STUDENTS CAN WIN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS THROUGH PROJECT XL
High school students, and their parents, who are interested in college scholarships and creative arts are encouraged to learn more about Project LX (Excel), a competition that awards over $40,000 in scholarships to creative students who excel in various forms of artistic expression. Project XL is created, funded, and administered by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. The topic of this year’s competition is “Identity – What Makes You Stand Out?” Students should express themselves through one of six categories: writing, music, two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art, video or performance. Project XL gives students an opportunity to develop skills that will impact their future. Students wanting to learn more about the rules and how to enter the competition should contact the school” administrative office. Entries may be submitted from January 20th through the 24th at any local Farm Bureau Insurance office.
