Elana Gerhardstein won first place in the 3rd-6th grade individual group at the Festival of Gingerbread at The History Center.
She chose the Prairie Grove Church because she thought it was an interesting building.
More than 100 gingerbread creations are on display. They are judged in one of eight categories: children, teens, adults, culinary students, families, and professionals. Elana’s Children’s gingerbread house was entered under two categories, Historical and Individual.
Elana is a six grader at Kekionga Middle School.
The History Center is open to view the Gingerbread Houses until Sunday, December 9 from Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays noon-5 p.m.
