The forecast for the Last Saturday of April is sunny and warmer, great weather for residents to “Experience Art. Discover Downtown.” From paintings to music, interesting exhibits or the art of cooking, there are many ways to engage the arts and a variety of activities to discover in downtown this month.
Start the day pondering whether animals think at Science Central or take in new exhibits at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and Artlink. The Conservatory’s annual live butterfly exhibit is on display and there is a special free screening of Steven Spielberg’s movie Lincoln in the theater of the Main Library in the afternoon. Take an invigorating yoga workshop or attend a fun and free workshop on historic Fort Wayne.
Saturday evening will be bustling downtown with the TinCaps vs Kane County Cougars at 5:05pm, followed by the 10th year of the Parkview Foundation’s “Cookin’ Men” charitable event at the Grand Wayne featuring extraordinary food and spirits prepared by nearly 100 of our local men.
Downtown is the heart of the music scene. There are several live music options at Club Soda, Old Gashouse and the Brass Rail. Cinema Center offers film buffs special midnight movies on the Last Saturday. This month features Plan 9 from Outer Space with a guest speaker sharing insight on the movie.
There are notable activities near downtown to consider on Saturday including the TEDx presentations at Indiana Tech and Fort Wayne’s Almost Famous Art Show featuring local high school students’ work at the former Rialto theatre.

The Cultural District of Fort Wayne is a hub of activity every weekend but the Last Saturday is full of artistic experiences for a variety of interests. Along with Arts United, Visit Fort Wayne, and the City of Fort Wayne, the Downtown Improvement District continues the Last Saturdays concept as an opportunity to promote community arts and cultural assets. Last Saturdays attracts visitors downtown to experience diverse social, arts, and cultural opportunities every month.
