The Easter Bunny will be hopping down the bunny trail that leads to the Southwest Conservation Club on Saturday, April 15 for the Waynedale Annual Easter Egg Hunt. A tradition in Waynedale since 2011, the event is always both popular and well attended. Children 12 and under are invited to collect eggs at the hunt which begins promptly at 10 a.m. The Club is located at 5703 Bluffton Road, at the intersection of Old Trail and Bluffton Roads.
There will be two areas for the egg hunt based on children’s ages; 1-6 and 7-12. Be the lucky child to find the special golden egg in each category and win an Easter Basket donated by Englewood Health and Rehab. There will also be bunny ears for each child compliments of Kingston Residence. Naturally, the Easter Bunny will be in attendance so bring along your camera. Please also bring your own Easter basket to collect the eggs. Once opened, the plastic eggs are always recycled and sanitized for use the following year.
The event is sponsored by the Waynedale Community Improvement Team (WCIT) and supported by many area businesses, who provided candy to fill the eggs. Our appreciation goes to Wayne High School for filling the eggs, 2,400 total at last count! Thanks as well to JW Signs/GraphX Direct who provided the signage to promote the event.
Event organizer Beulah Matczak states, “This is just one example of the wonderful events Waynedale offers our community.” She urges everyone to “bring the family out for a fun time.”
Don’t forget to bring along some cash because GMI Insurance will be raffling off two new children’s bicycles; a Boy’s 20-inch Rallye Malice Bike (Black with Red Trim) and a Girl’s 20-inch Rallye Summer Miss Bike (Pink with Green Trim). The raffle began at Kingston’s Taste of Waynedale and the proceeds are slated to go to the Waynedale Sidewalks and Trails Initiative. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. This is the second year in a row that GMI has donated towards supporting our local trails, encouraging the community to stay active and enjoy the outdoors.
