Do you ever think about what you gain from Optimism? Well, on February 6th, there were 6 young students that shared a short speech on “What the World Gains from Optimism”.
This Oratorical Contest was sponsored by the Southside Optimist Club of Fort Wayne, held at the Allen County Public Library. The five young ladies and one young man gave some outstanding, motivational and inspiring speeches. The Optimist Club awarded portfolios to everyone and medallions to the top three speakers.
The 1st place young lady, Elizabeth Bogle, and young man, Collin Cahill, will continue to the Regional contest in Portland, Indiana on April 6th and the Indiana North District Optimist Club holding the District contest in Marion, Indiana on April 29th for a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship.
1st place winners, Elizabeth Bogle and Collin Cahill are students from Bishop Dwenger High School. The other contestants were Mary Simcox receiving 2nd place and Jillian Rang receiving 3rd place. Also, participating were Edie Laurie and Aishani Valluru.
The Southside Optimist Club was honored to play a role in this wonderful event and continue to promote our creed by “Bringing Out The Best in Kids” and help them achieve their goals for the future.
