Shelby Gruss, who as a Senior played on the 2010 Girls Basketball STATE RUNNER-UP BASKETBALL TEAM, has just been chosen to play on the 2017 U. S. Women’s Wheelchair Basketball National Team, following a 3-day selection (tryout) camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their
Wow, I had soooo much fun! We had our Class of ’66 Reunion recently at Pine Valley on Saturday, September 24th. I had a lot of friends at Central Catholic. But I actually only hung out most of time with 2 guys back at CC in the mid 1960s. Joe (Tony) Contadeluci and John Teders. Well, both
Our 1st week is in the books. First of all, Gretchen Spenn has shown over the last couple weeks that she deserves a spot on this year’s Bishop Luers golf team. Welcome to the team, Gretchen! We’ll still be choosing one more girl to complete our final 2016 roster sometime this week.
THIS WEEKS TOURNAMENT
I AM SO PROUD OF THESE GIRLS! Every single one of them is getting better by the week! They are all playing their best basketball of their life, as far as I can tell. Put it this way, I personally have never seen any of them play this well. And it all starts with Coach Pixley. He expects them to play
What an unbelievable win that was over a tough, well-coached team…Northrup. Winning is FUN. But it’s always much more fun when we end up winning after having one foot in the grave, and the other on a banana peel!
After falling behind in the final minute by 3 points, Northrup had control of
Our Bishop Luers girl’s golf team had a day to talk about! All 5 girls shot a career best 18-hole score in competition!
On the same day! That’s almost unbelievable!
And McMillen was set up tough for a regulation Par 70 course, and it was extremely long. Many tees were way back at the “Tips”,
I just watched the most incredible girls high school basketball game I’ve ever seen in my entire life! Dwenger beat Luers in Bishop Dwenger’s gym by 6 points, 88-82! It was like watching a well-played, highly skilled COLLEGE game! Dwenger’s girls finally pulled away in the early
Taylor Gillie, her team’s big hitter this past year in Volleyball, recently made Bishop Luers Volleyball history! She became the first Luers player EVER to win the coveted (Tiffany Gooden) GLASS SPIKE AWARD given to the best Volleyball player in the entire SAC Conference! Considering such a
With the dropping temperatures, the leaves changing color and falling delicately to the ground, the Bishop Luers girls’ golf season came to a bittersweet end. As two of the seniors from the team, we will greatly miss calling ourselves Lady Knight Golfers. Nothing could compare to the experiences
After winning the Fort Wayne Women’s City Golf Championship in record fashion by 10 strokes, Waynedale’s own Kristi O’Brien has her sites set high for her Junior year at IUPUI college down in Indy. Her overall summer was a solid success in golf, and her work ethic was off the charts! Like
Waynedales’s own Kristi O’Brien won her first Fort Wayne Women’s City Golf Tournament last week in record fashion. Her 10 shot margin of victory indicates a total blowout. But for the first 2 1/2 rounds out of the 3 round 54-hole tourney, it was anything but.
On Saturday, July 17, 2010 this
This is my story about Vini Dawson, who plays college basketball for the University of St. Francis Cougars. It is a story of her early years at Bishop Luers’ Junior High AAU Development Program.
Vini’s story is a “feel-good” story, that all hard working Americans will love!
Upon first watching
Come on all you Bishop Luers fans, and all basketball fans, as well! We’ve got a WIN-WIN fundraiser deal that you’re absolutely going to love! As a coach for the Bishop Luers girl’s basketball team, I’d like to ask you for a favor. EAT MORE PIZZA HUT PIZZA!

OH, what a year! Late September back in ’07, OK, you get the picture. But what fun it was, our Bishop Luers Lady Knight Golfers won the SAC Conference Title for the first time since 1993…14 years! Kristi O’Brien and her four fellow seniors reached the top of the Summit in the City
Battle of the Unbeatens! Our Bishop Luers Lady Knights JV team was living a dream season so far, with a perfect record of 13-0. Varsity Coach Greg Fiend had added another powerhouse team to the girls already super tough Varsity and JV schedule in Penn H.S. (one of the largest and most powerful
This week’s games were exciting, and the boy’s won two more games to run their record to 17-3. They won their last home game to Blackhawk Christian, a team that will very likely make a run at the Class 1A State Championship. The 2nd game was a real quality win at Warsaw, a team that had
For the 1st time since 1993, 14 years ago, our Bishop Luers Lady Knight golfers captured the coveted SAC Conference Championship!
The girls went undefeated (6-0) in conference matches.
They then finished 2nd place in the 18-hole SAC Conference tournament at Colonial Oaks, earning enough points overall
Our defending State Champion Lady Knights fashioned a fine 21-3 win/loss record this year playing one of the toughest schedules in Indiana. For most teams this might have been the greatest season on school record. But for the only school in Indiana history to capture 5 IHSAA State Championships success
That’s all I could think about as the final seconds ticked off the clock at Conseco Fieldhouse. Our 5th State Championship title! Winning never gets old. That championship feeling never leaves you. But it might feel even sweeter after waiting 4 years! I am so full of Luers Spirit.
The Bishop Luers Lady Knights golf team fashioned a fine 7-win and 4-loss record this fall. Then in the late season S.A.C. tournament played at Foster Park, the girls finished a strong 4th place, only 1 stroke out of 2nd. Then in the Norwell sectional, played at Parlor City, the underdog Lady Knights
You just KNEW it was gonna be this way! Everybody knew this game and the Catholic Youth Organization Championship would come down to the final 2 minutes. St. Therese and St. Joe Hessen Cassel were so evenly matched. They met in the first CYO game of the year with Hessen Cassel winning that overtime
Bishop Luers freshman girls basketball team traveled all the way down to Indianapolis and put their undefeated record on the line in the Bishop Chatard Invitational Tournament. By drilling Greenfield 44-10 in the afternoon game, Luers earned the right to take on Chatard in the evening championship
